A chance at greatness.

Returning from a trip to visit my wife's family today -- my wife Rhonda was driving -- I was thinking. It was a quick trip during which we visited Rhonda's Mom in a nursing home (still not a fav place for me), listened to a lot of stories about relatives (seasoned) who frankly are not doing so well (healthwise) and ate some vapid chili that did not taste better the next day (I made it) -- I wasn't quite feeling sorry for myself but I was close.

So back to my thinking...most of it was about 2008 and my Buttons of Hope business, the potential I see and the challenges I face.

Oh yeah and when I got home I found out I did NOT win the NC Merry Millionaire Raffle BUT I did read this on my friend Seth Godin's blog; in part...

The thing is, we still live in a world that's filled with opportunity. In fact, we have more than an opportunity -- we have an obligation. An obligation to spend our time doing great things. To find ideas that matter and to share them. To push ourselves and the people around us to demonstrate gratitude, insight, and inspiration. To take risks and to make the world better by being amazing.

Please, read his full inspiring post. If you work for a non-profit or are planning to do a charity walk, volunteer or fund raise in 2008 his words might be worth printing, cutting and pasting on your wall. I did.

For me I still think photo buttons can change the world or at least the fundraising world. And remember life is short and we could all be in that nursing home, part of a not so happy story or the victim of some uninspired chili! So for 2008: Why not give yourself a chance at greatness, I am!

Meg thanks i love Seth Godin --he gets some flack because while he offers solutions --they are not easy nor are they particularly short term --

I will check out his site too. From my experience there are solutions for everything. They may not be quick & easy, and usually they are not. Everything that I have done that was worthwhile and of substance took focus, practice and long-term committment. I'm sure you can relate. Thanks, Michael.
